June 2025 — The SBA Raiders proudly announce the addition of Chris Maliszewski as the organization's new Director of Player Development and Recruiting, bringing with him over two decades of coaching, scouting, and leadership in the game of baseball.
With a career spanning more than 20 years, Coach Maliszewski has impacted the lives of hundreds of young athletes. His resume includes collegiate coaching stints, extensive scouting work, and being named Northwoods League Coach of the Year in 2004 after leading the Madison Mallards to a championship season — a program he still holds close to his heart.
“What we do on the field matters. But what we teach off the field is what lasts a lifetime,” said Maliszewski. “Baseball is my platform, but my purpose is much bigger.” In addition to his decorated baseball career, Maliszewski brings a deeply personal mission to the SBA Raiders.
As a survivor of a shooting, he has transformed that traumatic experience into a calling — mentoring young men to value their mental health, lead with character, and use the lessons of sport to do good in the world.
Through his role at SBA, he will not only be responsible for player development and national recruiting but also serve as a mentor, using baseball to instill life lessons rooted in resilience, compassion, and leadership.
“I want to help these young men become not only elite competitors but also well-rounded individuals who can face adversity with strength and grace,” he said.
This appointment marks a unique intersection of Maliszewski’s passions — baseball, youth development, fundraising, and mental health advocacy — and positions the SBA Raiders as a program that develops complete athletes prepared for the next level both on and off the field.
Maliszewski’s hiring is expected to draw attention across the baseball world, with outlets like D1Baseball, Perfect Game USA, Prep Baseball, and Baseball America already tracking the impact of this nationally respected figure.
